Preserving Amniotic Fluid is Easy and Safe

Amniotic fluid is not collected through elected procedures, but can be collected throughout your entire pregnancy during prenatal tests, such as amniocentesis. Collecting amniotic fluid does not change the prenatal tests. You are often preserving a small portion of the fluid that the doctor is already taking out. So, rather than discarding the fluid, you now have the option to preserve it.

Once you have discussed the amniocentesis procedure with your physician and the appointment has been scheduled, contact Biocell Center

Here’s how it works:

  • Call Biocell Center for your sample collection kit and instructions
  • Bring the kit with you to your prenatal test
  • Mail your sample (or work with your doctor’s office to send it) within 24 hours of collection to Biocell Center in the prepaid FedEx envelope
  • Biocell Center will process your amniotic fluid in the laboratory and place it into its cryobank
  • You will receive an acceptance certificate verifying that the sample has been successfully preserved

Biocell Center is a registered tissue bank and is the leader in amniotic fluid preservation.

Disclaimer:

Only your healthcare provider can suggest whether you should perform the amniocentesis procedure for prenatal diagnosis during your pregnancy. Although there is no guarantee that the FDA will approve any potential future medical applications and banking of amniotic fluid does not guarantee that these cells will be applicable to a particular medical condition, many clinical trials are on-going worldwide that may result in human therapies. Preserving amniotic fluid stem cells offers great hope for the future.
